children's yoga therapy

Coming soon… either by self-referral or from a professional (e.g. GP, school, social worker), yoga therapy is delivered by a qualified yoga therapist – someone with experience of working with children, yoga and children’s yoga specifically – and an understanding of child development and psychology.
Yoga therapy enables children who may be struggling with certain emotions, physical symptoms or behaviours that may be a result of an adverse childhood experience/trauma.
Following a thorough assessment, an individual plan is formulated to provide the child with bespoke therapeutic tools to recognise, address and manage their emotions/symptoms.

Typical yoga therapy sessions could include:

  • singing/chanting
  • story
  • craft and/or play
  • asana (yoga postures)
  • relaxation/guided meditation

Please note that the number of yoga therapy sessions needed will vary from child to child. Price per yoga therapy session is between £45–60.

mindfulness for children

These classes provide a wealth of experiences for children aged 4–12, based upon using our five senses.
Using a different theme each week, a typical class begins with a craft activity. Then, children are invited to explore a range of sensory resources and/or their environments. This attunes children to the here-and-now… living in the moment.
Grounding and relaxation techniques are taught using breath work (pranayama), practising gratitude, sometimes asana (simple yoga postures) and guided visualisation.
Specific emotions are explored—e.g. anger, worry, sadness—and children are provided with a ‘toolkit’ to use as a life-long resilience resource to express and regulate their own emotions.
This is all achieved through a gentle, playful class that aims to increase self-awareness and that of the world in which we live.
